Today, we had the honour of participating in the opening of a unique exhibition prepared by the Jan Karski Institute for War Losses. The exhibition tells the story of objects belonging to people involved in and witnesses to World War II – objects that have become silent witnesses to human fate, suffering and courage.

The aim of the exhibition is to remind us that the loss of memory of the history enchanted in these objects is still a war loss – and to show how we can prevent forgetting and cherish the heritage of past generations.

The following people took part in the grand opening:

📍 Mr Jacek Pauli – Mayor of Skarszewy

📍 Ms Magdalena Forc-Cherek – Secretary of the Skarszewy Commune

📍 Mr Kazimierz Smoliński – Member of the Polish Parliament

📍 Dr Bartosz Gondek – Director of the Jan Karski Institute of War Losses

Young people from Skarszewy schools and representatives of the Skarszewy Commune Youth Council also attended the event, participating with interest and learning about the importance of memory and history in shaping our identity.

We invite all residents and visitors to visit the exhibition and reflect on how much the objects that have stood the test of time mean to us – and what stories they can still tell us.

🕯️ Memory is a bridge between the past and the future.
