The Jan Karski Institute for War Losses was one of the organisers of the international academic conference ‘Vilnius in the Shadow of the Empire: Losses, Memory, Dialogue’, which took place in Vilnius on 1 September 2025.

Dr Bartosz Gondek presented a paper on the fate of the Elektrit factory in Vilnius, Dr Piotr Olechowski spoke about Soviet repression against Poles in Lviv, Dr Damian Markowski gave a lecture on historical memory in Poland, and Dr Tomasz Luterek chaired one of the panels.
