The outdoor exhibition of the Jan Karski Institute of War Losses, entitled ‘Artefacts – Memory Enchanted in Objects,’ has been set up at the Art Factory in Tczew. It is a unique space of silence and reflection, where each object remains silent, yet speaks most profoundly.

Discover extraordinary objects that speak louder than a thousand words:

• A suitcase with letters from Katarzyna, a participant in the Warsaw Uprising — an intimate testimony to the struggles of youth in the chaos of burning Warsaw

• Karolina Sitek's ring, which survived her stay in the camps and returned to her family

• Sergeant Kasprzyk's bracelet, found in Sheffield — a symbol of the Polish sky full of hope

• Janina Krzeczkowska's birch bark diary — a journey from Siberia to Iran written by the hands of an interned nurse

These are not ordinary objects — they are carriers of identity, heritage and national memory.

The first visitors to encourage others to see the exhibition were pictured here: ISW Director Dr Bartosz Gondek and Tczew Mayor Łukasz Brządkowski.
