On 6 November 2025, a conference entitled ‘The Legacy of War’ was held in Warsaw, organised by the Jan Karski Institute of War Losses and the Military Historical Office in cooperation with the Pilecki Institute.
The event was attended by leading researchers of contemporary history representing leading academic centres, who discussed the consequences of the Soviet Union's actions after 1945, methods of documenting war losses, and responsibility for war crimes.
The conference was opened by Minister Jakub Stefaniak, and speakers included Prof. Grzegorz Hryciuk, Prof. Anna Odrowąż-Coates, Prof. Andrzej Zawistowski, and Prof. Marcin Zaremba.
The event was a valuable opportunity for scientists and institutions researching Polish war losses to exchange experiences and reflect on the importance of historical memory in the modern world.
