On 14 February 2026, Warsaw will host patriotic celebrations of the National Day of Remembrance of Home Army Soldiers under the slogan ‘In Love with Poland’. The event, organised by the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression with the support of the Jan Karski Institute of War Losses, aims to commemorate Home Army soldiers and honour living veterans. The ceremony will be attended by Home Army veterans, soldiers of the Polish Army, Territorial Defence Forces, scouts, historical reenactment groups and a military orchestra.
The celebrations will begin with the laying of wreaths at the monument to General Stefan Rowecki, pseudonym ‘Grot’, on Chopina Street. Then, at 11:00 a.m., a Holy Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw. After the service, a ceremonial march will pass through the streets of the capital, including Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat, leading to the Monument to the Polish Underground State and the Home Army, and then to the area of the Sejm building.
The National Day of Remembrance of Home Army Soldiers is a special moment – a day of gratitude to those who fought for the freedom and independence of the Republic of Poland in the most difficult conditions. The ‘Fall in Love with Poland’ event is an expression of respect for veterans and an invitation to share, across generations, the history and values on which our national community is built," emphasises Lech Parell, Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression.
The focal point of the celebrations will be a patriotic ceremony with military honours, including commemorative speeches, a Roll Call of Remembrance and the laying of wreaths. A special place in the programme will be given to honouring living Home Army veterans – heroes of the Polish Underground State.
After the official part, participants will be invited to take part in a patriotic picnic, which will be an opportunity to celebrate together in an atmosphere of remembrance, gratitude and national community.
The event combines historical and social dimensions, constituting an important element in cultivating the memory of Home Army soldiers and building intergenerational dialogue around patriotic values.
